## Key takeaways

- BYD's Xixian battery project in Qinhan New City was fully completed and put into production at the end of September, with 16GWh annual capacity and 7 billion yuan total investment\.
- As of September 24, BYD had built 11,586 flash-charging stations cumulatively, including 2,000 expressway flash-charging stations covering 278 expressways\.
- The Xixian base started trial production of second-generation blade batteries in March and became one of the first production bases for the second-generation blade battery\.

## Xixian battery base reaches full production

At the end of September, BYD's new energy vehicle power battery project in Qinhan New City, Xixian New Area, was fully completed and put into production\. The base represents a total investment of 7 billion yuan and has an annual capacity of 16GWh\.

The base entered trial production of second-generation blade batteries in March and is one of the first production bases for the second-generation blade battery, as well as a core carrier for mass production of flash-charging technology\. The base's first cell line rolled off in October 2025, and it has now formed a complete manufacturing process from electrode preparation and cell production to battery pack integration and system testing\.

## BYD builds 11,586 flash-charging stations

As of September 24, BYD had cumulatively built 11,586 flash-charging stations, including 2,000 expressway flash-charging stations covering 278 expressways\. On August 28, the 10,000th flash-charging station landed in Shenzhen, covering 332 cities\.

On the day the second-generation blade battery was released in March, BYD also launched "Flash Charging China" and proposed building 20,000 flash-charging stations by the end of the year\.

The flash-charging technology provides a single-gun power of 1,500kW\. At room temperature, charging from 10% to 70% takes 5 minutes, and charging from 10% to 97% takes 9 minutes\. To address grid capacity limits at some sites, BYD has also introduced a super fast-discharge energy storage system into the flash-charging system to provide instantaneous high-power output through energy storage\.

## Second-generation blade battery capacity remains in ramp-up

On September 24, BYD said publicly that order demand for flash-charging models was strong, the second-generation blade battery was still in a capacity ramp-up phase, and the delivery cycle for some models had been lengthened as a result\.

In June, Wang Chuanfu said at a shareholders meeting that battery capacity was still insufficient and that this year's sales would depend on battery output\. The ramp-up pace at that time corresponded to an increase of about 20,000 to 30,000 vehicles per month\.

The second-generation blade battery, released on March 5, has an energy density more than 5% higher than the first generation\.

The 16GWh figure is the overall annual capacity of the Xixian power battery base; public information does not disclose the specific share of second-generation blade batteries within it\.

## FAW FinDreams takes next-generation Hongqi platform project

In August, FAW FinDreams disclosed that it was advancing the introduction and adaptation of the second-generation blade battery and had obtained a core project designation for the next-generation pure electric platform of FAW Group's Hongqi models\. Megawatt flash-charging technology will also be introduced into FAW vehicles\.

FAW FinDreams, established by the two sides, has achieved stable mass production, and first-generation blade batteries previously entered Hongqi and other models\.

It cannot yet be determined from this whether BYD will open the second-generation blade battery to more automakers on a large scale\.
