## Key takeaways

- Chery's Zero Dimension Technology displayed the SOLO X5 electric motorcycle, targeting a 20-80% fast charge in 20 minutes, and the GROW C3 range-extended motorcycle on October 19, with first products expected in the first half of 2027\.
- Chery and CATL formed two battery joint ventures this year: CATL Chery \(Wuhu\) New Energy Technology on October 19 with 1 billion yuan in registered capital, and Shidai Chery \(Hefei\) New Energy Technology on February 13 with 2 billion yuan, for a combined 3 billion yuan\.
- Deyi Energy's September battery installations reached 0\.57GWh, ranking 14th in China with about a 0\.66% share, while its 20GWh battery project in Dangshan, Anhui, topped out its plant buildings in late September with about 4 billion yuan in fixed-asset investment\.

## Electrification Push Beyond Cars

At Chery's Global Innovation Conference on October 20, Chairman Yin Tongyue described traditional automakers as akin to stable keepers and carriage workshop owners facing the first Mercedes-Benz, and said Chery aims to use AI to reorganize its capabilities into what he called a technology company wearing an automaker's vest\.

Chery's electrification efforts now extend beyond passenger cars into motorcycles, robots, agricultural machinery, battery production and vehicle-to-grid services\. On September 3, at the World Power Battery Conference, Yin said electric vehicles can serve not only as transport but also as mobile intelligent spaces, distributed energy carriers, computing carriers and internet-of-everything ports\.

## Zero Dimension Motorcycles Target 2027 Launch

On October 19, Chery's Zero Dimension Technology showcased the SOLO X5 electric motorcycle, the GROW C3 range-extended motorcycle, a hybrid powertrain and a smart helmet\. The SOLO X5's announced fast-charge target is 20 minutes to go from 20% to 80% state of charge, while the GROW C3 uses a range-extended route aimed at long-distance motorcycle travel\.

Tu Xiaoyue, deputy general manager of Chery Intelligent Technology, said global motorcycle sales total about 65 million units a year, of which about 30 million fall into the leisure and recreational target market Zero Dimension is focusing on\. Zero Dimension proposed a Motor life business concept spanning products, gear, travel and user communities\.

Zero Dimension has more than 200 employees: about 30% from the four-wheel vehicle industry, 40% from the fuel and electric two-wheeler industries, and 30% from internet, AI and other fields\. The company plans to build an independent sales and service system and is considering reusing channel resources from automotive brands including Jetour and iCAR\. Its first products are expected in the first half of 2027\.

For comparison, VinFast delivered 429,200 electric scooters and electric bicycles in the first half of this year, up 275% year on year\. Boliyway's battery products developed for VinFast began mass production and shipment in July, and the two companies recently signed a long-term strategic cooperation agreement covering battery demand of no less than 3 million sets per year\.

## Robots and Smart Farm Machinery

In September, Mojia Robotics, part of the Chery ecosystem, announced cumulative global deliveries of more than 3,000 units, with products and services covering more than 60 countries and regions and over 100 application scenarios\. One of Mojia's earliest overseas commercial scenarios was Malaysia's vehicle sales and service system\.

In July, Chery's new energy smart agricultural machinery project landed in Fuyang, Anhui, planning smart farm machinery, plant protection equipment and agricultural robots\. In the same month, Anhui Chery Intelligent Technology, under Chery Holding, invested several hundred million yuan in Zhongke Yuandongli's B2 funding round to support research and development, volume delivery and overseas expansion of new energy smart farm machinery\.

On October 20, Zhongke Yuandongli presented a new energy smart farm machinery platform covering 25 to 260 horsepower, using a unified 540V high-voltage architecture combined with unmanned operating systems\. The company said related technology has completed cumulative validation of more than 1 million mu-times of automated operations\.

## Two CATL Battery Joint Ventures

On October 19, CATL Chery \(Wuhu\) New Energy Technology was established with registered capital of 1 billion yuan\. CATL holds 51% and Chery Automobile holds 49%\.

On February 13, Shidai Chery \(Hefei\) New Energy Technology was established with registered capital of 2 billion yuan, with CATL holding 51% and Chery Automobile and Chery Commercial Vehicle together holding 49%\. The two joint ventures have combined registered capital of 3 billion yuan\. Registered capital represents subscribed contributions; actual capacity construction, capital deployment and production timelines remain subject to specific project disclosures\.

Both joint ventures' business scopes cover battery manufacturing, sales and energy storage-related operations, and the Wuhu company's scope also includes energy storage technology services\.

Chery and CATL have also cooperated on battery products and technology\. In April, the two companies, together with Chery Green Energy and Shidai Dianfu, signed a charging and battery-swapping cooperation agreement under which Chery develops models adapted to the battery-swapping system, while CATL and Shidai Dianfu develop, iterate and supply swap batteries and jointly advance supercharging and battery-swapping networks\.

## Deyi Energy Battery Ramp-Up

In August, Deyi Energy entered China's top 15 for domestic power battery installations\. In September, its installations reached 0\.57GWh, ranking 14th with a market share of about 0\.66%\.

In late September, Deyi Energy's 20GWh battery project in Dangshan, Suzhou, Anhui, completed plant topping-out\. The project involves about 4 billion yuan in fixed-asset investment and plans cell workshops, PACK workshops and ancillary facilities, with products including 187Ah and 166Ah blade cells and 684Ah energy storage batteries\.

## Solid-State Batteries and Pack Capacity

On October 8, Chery's group procurement platform published six solid-state battery equipment procurement notices covering materials analysis, cell preparation and performance testing\.

In March, Chery disclosed a cell-level figure of 400Wh/kg for its Rhino S all-solid-state battery and set a plan to conduct all-solid-state battery vehicle installation validation in 2027\.

In June, Chery signed an agreement with the Wuhu High-Tech Zone to build a global battery R&D center and a power battery PACK base\. The PACK base involves total investment of 1 billion yuan and is planned for annual output of 600,000 power battery packs, built in two phases, with phase one designed for 300,000 packs\.

## Vehicle-to-Grid Plans

On October 16, a V2G vehicle-to-grid interaction station jointly built by Chery Green Energy and State Grid Anhui Electric Power Mingsheng Group began operating in Wuhu\.

On October 20, Chery presented a discharge case for the Fengyun A9: one vehicle discharged 24 kWh back to the grid and earned 39 yuan\. This 39 yuan cannot simply be treated as the owner's net income, since charging costs, battery wear, electricity pricing and ancillary-service revenue mechanisms, and station operating costs all affect the final economics\.

Chery plans to debut V2G functions on the Fengyun A9 battery-electric model in the first half of 2027 and plans to deploy 20,000 V2G stations globally by 2029\.
