CAAM Statement on China-EU Consensus
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers issued a statement on October 14, 2026, welcoming the positive outcome of China-EU consultations on hybrid and electric vehicle trade. CAAM said it paid close attention to the consultations and expressed support for the results.
Consultations Under the Trade and Investment Mechanism
China and the EU held intensive consultations on hybrid and electric vehicle trade issues under the trade and investment consultation mechanism and reached a consensus. The two sides conducted the consultations on the principles of mutual respect and equal consultation.
Under the World Trade Organization multilateral rules framework, China and the EU affirmed three principles: fact-based, non-discriminatory and compliant.
CAAM Pledges Support for Implementation
CAAM said it is willing to continue serving as a bridge to promote communication and coordination within the industry. The association expressed support for China and the EU to move toward each other under the trade and investment consultation mechanism, implement the consensus, properly manage differences and jointly maintain a fair, open and non-discriminatory international trade environment.
CAAM said China and the EU handled trade frictions through dialogue and consultation on the WTO platform, setting an example for the international community in properly managing differences. The association said the consensus would inject positive energy into the green and low-carbon transition and sustainable development of the global auto industry.
