N90 Series Aerodynamic Targets
Xiaomi Pengcheng's N90 series is a full-size extended-range SUV with a body length of over 5 meters and a width close to 2 meters. The N90 Max has a drag coefficient of Cd 0.255, while the N90 Max Explorer Edition reaches Cd 0.245, which the source describes as currently the lowest among large extended-range SUVs.
To achieve these figures, Xiaomi Pengcheng carried out more than 3,400 simulation calculations and seven rounds of model and full-vehicle wind tunnel tests, developing over 140 aerodynamic optimization measures for the vehicle.
Front and Body Drag-Reduction Measures
The active grille shutter, standard across the range, reduces drag by 25 counts and adds 12.5 km of range. The pebble-shaped lidar contributes a 5-count reduction and 2.5 km of added range.
Low-drag wheels cut 10 counts and add 5 km of range, while frameless mirrors reduce drag by 4 counts and add 2 km. Semi-hidden door handles and front bumper air curtains each lower drag by 2 counts and add 1 km of range.
Roof and Rear Aerodynamic Features
The 'negative drag' lifting roof reduces drag by 10 counts. The tail-light airflow guide design alone lowers drag by 5 counts.
Underbody Optimization
Xiaomi Pengcheng applied more than 30 local optimization measures to the underbody, covering 23 shield panels and fairings. The complete underbody solution spans 4.59 square meters and keeps underbody flatness variation to around 15 mm.
The full underbody package reduces vehicle drag by 25 counts and directly adds 4.95 km of range to the N90 Max.
