Agreement Signed in Shanghai
NIO Energy and China General Nuclear New Energy Holdings (CGN New Energy) signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Shanghai on October 28, 2026. The cooperation covers three areas: zero-carbon management, green power, and energy services, aimed at supporting the green integration of new energy vehicles and the new power system.
NIO Chief Financial Officer and head of NIO Energy Qu Yu and CGN New Energy Party Committee member and deputy general manager Zhang Hua attended and witnessed the signing. Hu Weifeng, general manager of NIO Energy's power business, and Liu Jiapei, Party branch member and assistant to the general manager of CGN (Beijing) Power Sales Service Co., Ltd., signed the agreement on behalf of the two sides.
Zero-Carbon Management and Green Power
Under the agreement, CGN New Energy will leverage its expertise in electricity-carbon assets and digital platforms to support NIO with carbon asset management, carbon emissions accounting, and the building of zero-carbon factories and zero-carbon parks.
In regions where power market trading is already underway, CGN New Energy will give priority to matching green power and green certificates for NIO.
Power Market and Battery Cooperation
The two companies will jointly promote the participation of battery swap and charging stations and new energy vehicles in power markets and vehicle-to-grid (V2G) business. Building on NIO's BaaS battery-as-a-service model and large-scale battery assets, they will also cooperate on echelon use of power batteries and the operation of user-side energy storage stations, exploring a new energy business model coordinating vehicles, stations, and the grid.
